@sun-n-fun.2017

@sun-n-fun.2017 from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

This video give you a hint. I originally named the video "warbirds@sun-n-fun.2017 but in the end I decided to go with one video this year. Enjoy!

Potato Lane

Potato Lane from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

As soon as the crop is harvested, Potatis-Anders start to prepare a landing strip. When possible, he offers a fly-in on Facebook and his mailing list. This year, about 12 aircraft found their way to the small village of Dimbo, close to Falköping.

Night mission

Night mission from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

The return flight from Skövde on a night navigation mission. Very crisp and clear and relatively calm.

Crisp Night Delight

Crisp Night Delight from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A cool, clear and windy night over Gothenburg, Sweden

Angel hair, icecream-castles, feathered canyons

Angel hair, icecream-castles, feathered canyons from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

From dark clouds to a dreamland with whispy strands of clouds, like angel hair. icecream-castles and feathered canyons, right up there.

Partly Cloudy

Partly Cloudy from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Real Summer at last.

SUN 'n FUN part 3 -Expo

SUN 'n FUN part 3 -Expo from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

There's so much to see at SUN 'n FUN. The airsoh (part 1) and the night airshow (part 2). But for many of us, the Expo is just as important and fun as the sky activities. On the ground, you can check out almost everything you can imagine. In aviation. New aircraft, lovingly homebuilt or restored old aircraft, every one of them interesting in their own way.

SUN 'n FUN part 2 Night Air Show

SUN 'n SUN part 2 Night Air Show from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

From the blazing sun into the cool night airshow. Majestic moves and exciting fireworks make it a special experience.

EAA Sweden 2016 Fly-in at Falkoping

EAA Sweden 2016 Fly-in at Falkoping from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

While just a fraction of the size of Air Venture in Oshkosh, there're still a few similarities between the two events. Falkoping is the Dairy Center of Sweden, as is Wisconsin to the US and each one is the largest flying event in their country.

SUN ‘n FUN 2016 part 1 - Daily Airshow

SUN 'n FUN 2016 part 1 - Daily Airshow from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

SUN 'n FUN is a great expo and airshow in Lakeland, Florida. Six days of "plane" happiness. Performers like Michael Goulian, Patty Wagstaff, Gary Ward, Greg Koontz, Matt Chapman, Jim Peitz and the Tigers, Aeroshell, the Aerostars and Team Breitling made it unforgetable. You'd also enjoy the two night airshow and plenty of warbirds as well as the exhibition. And it's a great place to meet friends. Enjoy part 1. #sunnfun #snf16

Scenic Tour

Scenic Tour from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

The coast North from Gothenburg is considered to be the most beautiful part of Sweden. Lot of bare cliffsand many coastal villages built on raw cliffs.

Dji Osmo in flight

First flight with DJI Osmo. A 4K camera on a handheld gimbal.

Frozen Lake Fly-in Orlen

Frozen Lake Fly-in Orlen from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

One of very few opportunities to land on a frozen lake, this season. Olle, Peter and Lise-Lotte made it possible and they organized a well attended, friendly and nice fly-in with very short notice. Thank you!

Frozen lake fly-in Almhult

First frozen lake fly-in of the season took place at Lake Mockeln, close to Almhult (IKEA's headquarters). A post on Facebook the day before and the grapevine was all it took to attract about 20 aircraft. Perfect conditions, minus 15 degrees Celcius, clear skies and the low Winter sun, casting long shadows.

Spotting Mats

Spotting Mats from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Sometimes you'll just think of an old friend. It could happen anytime, anywhere, though it's not always you have an opportunity to act on it right away. This time, it worked beautifully. It's really hard to spot someone on the ground from 1500 feet up. Even at a 1000 feet. But there are some tricks to make it easier for the pilot...

Texel & Le Touquet

Two wonderful vacation weeks. In Europe, with an aircraft.

Summer Thursday at Öresten

Every Thursday there's a gathering... Also called a fly-in. At Öresten's very nicely situated airfield just South East of Gothenburg. This time, there were about 7 aircraft and a few happy people basking in the evening sun.

EAA Fly-in in Falköping 2015

A windy day, started out with overcast, some stratus and a pretty powerful wind. Ended in clear and sunny skies, and somewhat subsiding wind.

Jazzy Aalborg

Jazzy Aalborg from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Another Aalborg movie? How fun is that? Well, you do find a few gems over the years. Places you want to go back to. Aalborg in Denmark is one of them. And there's much to see in Aalborg. This time, the weather was a lot more unpredictable than the sunny forecast, adding another dimension to the visit.

Tuesday Sunset

Tuesday Sunset from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A nice After Work activity, eh? Chasing the sunset with a horizon lined by CBs.

Sunny Sunday

Sunny Sunday from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

This Winter, we've had very few flying opportunities. At last a sunny weekend day! Friends in the airspace, a few clouds to play with. Glorious day, eh? Nice music by David Gay-Perret. Check out his music at jamendo.com/en/artist/340947/david-gay-perret

Touch

A slow day for ATC. Made it possible for me to do a little touch-and-go practice before leaving the control zone.

On the 12th day of Christmas...

On the 12th day of Chritsmas... from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

... there was no wind, high ceiling and no work. Perfect for a flight to a couple of nearby airfields. Usually, there are some nice people at these places and the perfect flying conditions made it very likely to get at least a cup of coffee. But, no. Either they were out flying themselves, which is most likely, or they all had some more important stuff to do.

Frosty Flight, Finally

Frosty Flight, Finally from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Just before the first snow of the season, we got a window of opportunity for a short local flight. Pretty cold and a very thin layer of frost and very little snow speckled the landscape. Even at sea, there was a tendency of ice on the surface, in the most shallow bays. During the flight, the Garmin Virb started to frost over, beginning with the upper left corner and by landing time, the image was pretty fuzzy all over. A cool, fun and very natural effect.

December City Sights

December City Sights from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A short but very nice flight over Göteborg City and Kungälv. The flying club had an "Open house" and one of the visitors, Philip, volunteered to be my co-pilot. He did a great job.

December Night Delight

December Night Delight from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Just one camera, for a change. The Garmin Virb is very good at low light and it also picks up a great deal of color. Please enjoy a cool and crisp evening flight over Gothenburg, Sweden. Take off and landing at Gothenburg City Airport and a low overpass at Landvetter (The main airport).

Yet Another Beautiful Sunset

September 2014 had plenty of spectacular sunsets. Monday the 15th was one of them. Here're a couple of minutes nice scenery. Enjoy!

Fly in season finale '14

Fly in season finale '14 from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Every year between June and August, there are a selection of weekly food fly-ins. Sadly, this was the last one in 2014. A beautiful evening and a great sunset marked the end of the season.

Seaplane Base Oshkosh

Seaplane Base Oshkosh from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A 3 buck bus ride to the Seaplane base at Oshkosh EAA AirVenture turned out to be a real nice experience. When we arrived we overheard a kid saying to his dad "Best three bucks spent, ever!" and we do agree.

EAA Airventure Exhibition 2014

EAA Airventure Exhibition 2014 from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Mostly photos from the three days I spent browsing the grounds. Some video clips, too. It will give you a small glimpse of all you kan see at Oshkosh at the end of July, every year. :-)

Oshkosh 2014 Nightshow

Oshkosh 2014 Nightshow from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

This is one of the absolute highlites of the EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh. The night show lasts more than 2 hours and these are just a couple of acts. The first one is an aircraft and the second part is a helicopter and the acts are framed by the post airshow fireworks called "Wall of flame".

Where the heck is Krapperup

Yes, where is it? You'll find out if you watch this video.

Clouded view

Sometimes the clouds are just too spectacular for you to stay on the ground. This was a great opportunity to try the Garmin Virb Elite. Unfortunately, I still haven't fixed any mounts to the outside of aircraft, so I tried the tube/bike mount. It worked pretty good, even when shooting through the windscreen. As I still haven't really learned the menues on the virb, I didn't find how to get the upside down setting. Weird thing is that if the WiFi is on, you can't do many settings at all.

The aviator from Blekinge

First time in a single engine piston is always special.

Danes and dunes

Cool and windy. That's the first impression of this season's first trip to the nearby Danish island of Laeso. Though it warmed up as the wind subsided and the second day was pretty hot and nice.

Not so busy in Aalborg

Aalborg Denmark. Cool city, lots of restaurants, shopping streets and fun alleys littered with tiny old houses. Apparently some Danes are more busy than other, though. As you may spot in one of the scenes.

In the country

In-the-country from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A nice evening out at Öresten. A pretty close grass airfield that's usually pretty good even after a rainfall. A good opportunity to test the Phantom 2 again, after the unfortnate runaway adventure a few weeks ago.

Roskilde, and all that jazz

Roskilde, and all that jazz from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Roskilde is jazz. A mix of tones and tunes, lots of impressions, good food and nice shopping. The airport is a gem, too. Accessible, friendly staff and an air of the former grand Copenhagen International.

Phantom at the Fortress

Phantom at the Fortress from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

The fortress of Kungälv was a border fortress at the former border between Sweden and Norway. Built in the mid 17th century as a grand stone fortress. During the years, people have plundered the castle for stone and other building material. Just one of several towers still standing.

Springy Backamo

It's close, it's mostly dry and the old military camp (which is now a kind of hostel) is pretty cosy. It's a little too early in the year for the coffee shop to be open, though.

Glastar. Better than a SK60?

Glastar. Better than a SK60? from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Donald (a college of mine) has nice memories from a childhood flight in a Swedish Air Force jet trainer, called SK60. The SK 60 is still used as a trainer. Anyway, half an hour in a Glastar put plenty of new and fresh experiences into Donald's head and back on ground he willingly admitted that the Glastar flight gave him a lot more. Enough said, I think. :-)

Backamo in white

A clear day, at last. A bit windy, 14-22 knots crosswind at home base and possibly more at Backamo, though a more favorable runway direction made it okay. Not a very good day for the Phantom qudracopter, but a nice test in hard wind, nevertheless.

Unexpected treat

A spot of not so terrible weather, for a change. Seize the day

December light --- stretched

December light --- stretched from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

We took a tour of the coast — high and low — on Saturday, before the 2nd Sunday of Advent. The thermometer hit minus nine before getting home, and a superb snowfall happened by Sunday morning

A sunset hard to get

A Sunset hard to get from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

Oops. Where did the daylight go? Even when leaving work at 3:45 in the afternoon, it's hard to catch the sunset in November.

Civil Air Patrol (FFK-HV)

Civil Air Patrol (FFK-HV) from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

The Swedish variety of Civil Air Patrol use club aircraft and has a pretty limited budget. Some parts are civilian while my part of it is military duty for the Home Guard. This time, the weather didn't…

Swedish west coast - October Sunset

Swedish west coast - October Sunset from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

An October sunset flight over the gorgeous rocky islands of west-coast Sweden. After work, on a crisp and clear Friday evening. Fall colours and shimmering North Atlantic ocean lights, in crystal visibility.

Fall colors

Fall Colors from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A beautiful Fall day, with blazing colors everywhere. Topping off with another nice sunset

City Lights

City Lights from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

VFR Night require you to have at least one night landing in the last 90 days, to be able to take pax. Hard to get in the Summer light. In the Fall, 's the time to get up to date. A nice sunset doesn't…

Sunday Surprice

Sunday Surprise from Hasse Hellstrom on Vimeo.

A dull Sunday afternoon turns to gold when we get up in the air. More so, as two aviators stumble into each other (kind of) and created a few Kodak Moments
